Dr. Marc Carrière
Psychologist
My therapeutic orientation is integrative, combining elements of Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. The specific emphasis is tailored to individual client needs.
Psychotherapy
The primary service I provide is psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is a process whereby a therapeutic relationship is established between the psychologist and client in an effort to help the client overcome their difficulties.
Problem areas include:
Depression
Anxiety
Grief and Bereavement
Excessive Worry
Self-Esteem Difficulties
Identity and Personality Issues
Chronic Illness Management
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Childhood Abuse
Assessment
I also conduct psychological assessments. Assessment is a systematic process of information gathering for a specific purpose. Common reasons for assessments include specifying or clarifying a diagnosis, clarifying personality functioning, and determining psychological impairments or injuries stemming from particular events such as a workplace injury or a motor vehicle accident.
Assessments involve clinical interviews and psychological measures. Depending on the purpose, they may also involve file reviews (educational, medical) and discussions with family members.
Please note that I do conduct assessments and treatments for mva-related difficulties through SABS.
Rates
In Ontario, psychological services are not covered under the provincial health plan. Most extended health insurance plans cover some psychological care. Further, expenses not covered by extended health care plans are tax deductible as health care expenses.
My rates are comparable to those of other psychologists and are in accordance with Ontario Psychological Association guidelines.
Under some circumstances, reduced rates may be available.
